August 6th, 2018 PTA General Meeting Minutes

General Meeting
August 6, 2018

The general meeting was called to order at 5:12pm on August 6, 2018 by President Jessica Christiansen. Jessica Christiansen, Kathy Jennings, Michelle M, Marci Forbes, Kristin Beechum and Annie Lindekugel were present.  Kathy Jennings motioned to approve minutes from May 2018 meeting. Marci Forbes seconed the motion.

Kathy Jennings presented the annual budget for the 2018-2019 school year. Discussion around the following topics took place:

  1. Jackson PTA fundraising is allocated into 3 tracks:
    1. Art for Learning ($25,000)
    2. General Fund – Culture Day, field trip support, library funding, non designated ($25,000)
    3. Chrome Book Initiative for Jackson ($25,000)

  2. Budget discussion included:
    1. The elimination of Learnstein for the 2018-2019 school year and adding it to the Bernstein Bash.
    2. Restaurant Fundraisers – we are seeking a volunteer to run the restaurant dinner fundraisers.
    3. Girl’s Night Out – Marci will reach out to principal to see if this is going to happen this year.
    4. Raise Bash Income to $31,000
    5. Rat Race – need ot increase expenses to $750.
    6. Culture Day – $6802.
    7. Eliminate line item of school support.
    8. Site Council is ice cream social.
    9. Add $200 for counselors/student office

Goal for the 2018-2019 school year is “Keeping up Chrome” – focusing on replacement devices first. Replace 10 expiring in 2018, 16 expiring in 2019, which will cost $25,340.

Kathy Jennings will make revised changes to budget and present at September board meeting for review.

Annie Lindekugel will adjust standing rules and update in dropbox. She will also bring attendance sheet to September meeting.

Kristin Beechum is to start asks of Jackson community on the 20thof August.

Volunteer Coordinator:
Cookie Dough, Library, Picture Day, Rat Race, Book Fair, Restaurant Lead (Oct, Dec, Jan, Feb, April, May – Avoid Tuesdays), PTA Clothing Closet- Sept 27th,  Jump Start Day – Aug 27th

Kathy Jennings needs two signers on all checks.

Michelle M will take care of weekly emails to Jackson community. All are encouraged to submit any necessary info to her by Monday/Tuesday each week.

PTA Online Training – Online Training For Secretary (Marci, Kristin, Annie)
