Principals Report

Bus transportation has been rocky! Happy with how last week went, but new schedules and routes made today, so there is still some confusion about bus numbers and routes.

The registration information in the packet – if you have changes to emergency contact information, or updated contact information, please update that as we are getting settled and organized.

We ar woking through a list of ‘swiss cheese’ model of COVID approach. A layered approach to safety. Kids are doing an amazing job of using masks and being safe.

Some students are still waiting on getting locker assignments/codes and/or new locks for lockers. Need some replacing. Will get that sorted by the end of this week.

Been lucky as a school that students and kids are being responsible and safe. We have not had any positive confirmed cases yet! We have ‘traffic’ flows in the building, and directional staircases to help direct kids safely.

Lunches look different. We have four lunch services. Two periods, with two sections in each. Aimed at having less students eating at the same time. Sixth graders eat first, seventh-graders split, and 8th graders eat last. Target is 200 kids per session. Kids are eating outside. We are building out some extra seating for students, and ordering folding chairs. They have access to cafeteria for water. Now recess is inside because the outside spaces is occupied. The gym and library hold students. Library holds 50 students. Bathrooms and water are still accessible with this plan during recess, rather than sending them out to the field for ‘recess.’

8th graders will get some training on contact tracing as they learn how they have to be more rigid about the way they move through the building.

Try8ng to get Chromebooks in for students so that kids don’t have to bring their own devices. We dont have a set date for when they will arrive at school for distribution.

Question about the Covid checklist opt-in form. What does the testing entail? If you opt in, they will send the kits to your house. On-site testing are the quick nose swabs for a student that is symptomatic. We will likely call you on the phone if your child is symptomatic that they self-administer. The isolated symptom space will only hold two students at a time. If a child is symptomatic at school, parents will get called to take the student home. K-5 schools will be receiving this service first. Still Waiting to figure out

Questions about safety/privacy about blocked content on the PPS issued Chromebooks. There will be blocked content, but students sometimes find ways around the blocks. Will confirm about ‘Securely’ app access – whether parents need to opt in or out

Last year the PTA supported our partnership with “no place for hate” club cirriculum/ and Anti Defamation League – approx $1,500 to do parent trainings
