Internet and Social Media Information Night

October 15th (Wednesday), 7pm – JMS Library

Students’ use and access to social media requires parents to be well-informed and proactive. Learn more about the realities of social media. What can you do to be more smart and effective regarding social media? They will also discuss digital reputations, give guidelines for what to post and what not to post, how to avoid problems, and what to do if we become victims.

The Jackson Middle School PTA will be hosting Officers Tom Hamann and Steve Filippelli from the Lake Oswego Police Department for this informational night for parents. Their presentation was developed by the Sunnyvale, CA Police Department in cooperation with Yahoo.

Open to all Jackson Middle School Parents

Thank you!

On behalf of the PTA board, I would like to thank the Jackson volunteers and contributors for your support of the students and faculty of Jackson Middle School.  The students notice, the parents are grateful, the staff thanks you and the PTA commends you. We all are better off because you cared enough to donate your time, energy and financial support to Jackson Middle School.

While we didn’t make our fundraising goals this year, we are able to continue support to the Bernstein Artful Learning Program.  Artful Learning is a school improvement model that stimulates and deepens academic learning through the Arts.  Nowhere is this more evident than at Jackson Middle School now in its 16th year.  In addition, we are able to continue funding of Cultural Day.  A day Jackson Middle School students are able to focus on and experience the world around them.

I also want to thank the PTA board for their generous time and devotion to the PTA.  Tony Hansen, Alice Forbes, Greg Anderson, Karis German, Kari Smith-Haight, Sandy HerrleHartzog and Candice Weischedel have pulled together time and again to make sure events take place, our teachers and students are supported and the Bernstein Artful Learning program continues.  I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done in service to Jackson.

Finally, I would like to encourage you to volunteer your time on the PTA board.  Not only is it a tremendous opportunity to work with a great group of parents, the PTA also serves an important role in creating partnerships within our school community and fostering an environment where parent involvement is encouraged and respected. You will learn a great deal and put your talents and knowledge to use as a leader in the Jackson community.  Please consider making the time for Jackson.

Thank you again for a wonderful year.
